These terms govern engagements with Basel Family Concierge (Ella Missuk). By confirming an engagement — Welcome to Basel, Essential, Signature, Private Family Office, or a Premium Family Project — you agree to the terms below. A more detailed written agreement may be provided for the engagement itself; these terms apply in addition to it.
Basel Family Concierge provides advisory, coordination, and introduction services to help international families settle and live well in Basel. We listen, assess your family's situation, and introduce you to appropriate, personally vetted service providers. We do not ourselves perform the services of those third-party providers — schooling, healthcare, tradework, or otherwise. The scope of each level of support, with practical examples, is described in our Service Overview, which you receive together with your offer.
Our recommendations are based solely on what is right for your family. You pay Basel Family Concierge for advisory and coordination. Any service you then take up with an introduced provider is paid to that provider directly, at their own standard rates, under a contract between you and them. Some providers may pay Basel Family Concierge a one-time referral fee when a family we introduce becomes their client, usually up to CHF 500 per introduction, or up to 10% of the provider's fee for larger assignments. Such a fee never increases what you pay and never decides a recommendation. By accepting these terms, you agree that such fees remain with Basel Family Concierge and waive any claim to them (Art. 400 of the Swiss Code of Obligations). On request, we will tell you at any time whether, and in what amount, a fee was received in connection with your family.
Every contract for a service we introduce is signed directly between your family and the provider. Basel Family Concierge is not a party to those agreements and is not liable for how they are performed. Providers are chosen with care, but we cannot guarantee their conduct.
Basel Family Concierge offers three levels of ongoing support: Essential (CHF 950 per month), Signature (CHF 1'950 per month) and Private Family Office (CHF 3'200 per month). Every engagement begins with Welcome to Basel, charged once at CHF 1'450 regardless of the level chosen afterwards and payable on booking; it may also be booked on its own. It begins once the invoice has been paid. It includes an arrival conversation (60 minutes) by video, or at your home if you prefer, a private walk through Basel on a weekday or Saturday, a written Basel plan for the first twelve months, a meeting to discuss the plan with a recommendation of the right level of support, and up to three first introductions. Ferry crossings and coffee and cake during the walk are included. Monthly engagements have a minimum term of three months and are invoiced monthly in advance. Families who choose an annual engagement pay for twelve months in advance and receive 10% off the monthly fees for that year; Welcome to Basel is charged in addition. Premium Family Projects are agreed and quoted separately. There are no hidden fees. All invoices are payable within 10 days of the invoice date. Prices are stated in Swiss francs. Basel Family Concierge is currently not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged. Should Basel Family Concierge become liable for VAT, prices may be adjusted by the statutory VAT rate with 30 days’ written notice (email is sufficient); in that case, the Client may terminate the engagement as of the date the adjustment takes effect.
The monthly fee includes personal support, organisational and coordination services per calendar month within the scope of the agreed level: up to four hours with Essential, up to eight hours with Signature, and up to fifteen hours with Private Family Office.
Time spent includes, in particular, handling client requests, research, telephone calls, correspondence, appointment scheduling, bookings, coordination with third parties and other activities carried out on behalf of the Client within the agreed scope of services. Short questions by WhatsApp or email that can be answered within a few minutes (as a rule, under ten minutes) are included and are not counted towards these hours.
Unused hours expire at the end of each calendar month and may not be carried forward, refunded or otherwise compensated.
If the included hours are likely to be exceeded, the Client will be informed in advance. Additional support will only be provided with the Client's prior approval and will be charged at CHF 180 per hour.
Services requiring specific professional qualifications, licences or regulated expertise, including legal, tax, financial or medical advice, are not part of the personal support service. Where such expertise is required, the Company may identify or recommend a suitable qualified professional and coordinate their involvement at the Client's request.
The Company may research, contact and obtain information or quotations from third-party service providers on the Client's behalf. No paid third-party service provider will be engaged, and no third-party costs will be incurred on behalf of the Client, without the Client's prior approval.
Fees and expenses charged by external professionals and third-party service providers, including legal or tax advisers, tradespeople, cleaning services, childcare or pet care providers, transport providers and comparable services, are not included in the monthly retainer and are payable separately by the Client.
Time spent identifying, contacting, arranging or coordinating external professionals and third-party service providers forms part of the Client's included monthly service allowance.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, external professionals and third-party service providers operate independently and provide their services directly to the Client. Any agreement for such services is entered into directly between the Client and the relevant third party.
While reasonable care is taken when recommending or introducing third-party service providers, the Company does not guarantee their availability, performance, quality of service or outcome. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Company is not responsible for the acts, omissions, performance or charges of independent third-party service providers.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability for the Company's own services where such liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Everything you share with us about your family is treated as strictly confidential. This confidentiality undertaking forms part of every engagement and is our non-disclosure agreement (NDA); a separately signed NDA is available on request. Details of your family's situation are shared only where necessary to make an introduction, and only with your prior agreement. This obligation continues after the engagement has ended and does not apply where disclosure is required by law. We will only ever use an anonymised description of your family’s situation as an example, for instance on our website, with your explicit consent.
Monthly engagements have a minimum term of three months. They can be cancelled in writing (email is sufficient) at any time with 30 days' notice to the end of a calendar month, but at the earliest to the end of the third month. Fees already invoiced for a month that has started are not refunded. An annual engagement runs for twelve months. If your family relocates away from Basel during that year, it can be ended with 30 days' notice to the end of a calendar month; the months already used are then recalculated at the regular monthly fee (without the annual discount) and any remaining balance is refunded. Welcome to Basel is non-refundable once the arrival conversation has taken place; if you cancel before that conversation, the fee is refunded in full. Basel Family Concierge may end an engagement with immediate effect for good cause, in particular if an invoice remains unpaid after a reminder, and may pause its services until outstanding invoices are paid.
We take reasonable care in selecting and recommending providers, based on direct personal knowledge. We are not liable for the acts, omissions, pricing, or quality of work of any third-party provider we introduce.
Information shared with us as part of an engagement is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
These terms are governed by Swiss law. The place of jurisdiction is Basel-Stadt, Switzerland.
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised.
